Owners of high dollar amps, including myself, enjoy and praise them.
Many, including working musicians, cannot afford ultimate amps.
BUT DON'T FORGET- HIGH DOLLAR/VINTAGE/MAXI-MOJO AMPS DON'T MAKE THE
PLAYER!!
Everything a player needs (though not exactly what they may want) is
there in a Bassman reissue with suitable tubes, readily available used
for around $500. The ultimate adds 10% above this.
My playing would be better if I spent the time in the woodshed instead
of holding a soldering iron.
A couple of years ago I attended a festival that had Rick Estrin/Little
Charlie and the T birds on the bill. The organizers provided the amps.
Rick played first, and tried a BF Super Reverb. After a few toots, he
switched to a Fender Hodrod Deville. Kim Wilson also used the Deville.
Both players were wonderful, as expected. Their distinctive
individual styles and sounds were fully apparent despite the shared
pedestrian equipment.
